Spaghetti with Meat Sauce

Some relatives from abroad are in town for a few weeks. So I think that this post is perfect to mark the occasion. At home, we have a joke that whenever there's spaghetti there are visitors coming over. So here's a quick recipe perfect for when you're craving for pasta.
You'll need:
spaghetti
ground beef
garlic, minced
onions, minced
carrots, minced
celery, minced
tomatoes, chopped
cheese (I used mozzeralini for this one)
mozerallini
soy sauce
sugar
basil
salt and pepper to taste

Pour a bit of olive oil into a pan. Add onions and garlic and cook until soft. Add celery and carrots, then add the beef. Once cooked, add the tomatoes and tweak the taste by adding soy sauce (My yaya's secret incredient. I find that it balances the flavor of the sauce), salt, pepper and sugar to cut the tomato's acidity.

In another pot, cook the spaghetti as directed in the package. Add a bit of salt to your water. Once cooked, strain the noodles, but save a bit of water. This will help the sauce stick to the noodles even more (So Giada de Laurentis says).

Add the noodles unto the sauce. If you want to make the sauce more runny, add a bit of starchy water. Add basil leaves and cheese and you're good to go.
