Lugang Cafe

This post really isn't a restaurant review. I just wanted to share with you the things I always order and enjoy at Lugang Cafe :)
I love xiao long bao! I'm not a connoisseur though. I haven't tried all the xiao long bao joints in Manila. I've only tried Din Tai Fung in Singapore care of my sister-in-law and I enjoyed that immensely! But Lugang's version isn't bad at all.
Xiao Long Bao (P188)

I always end up eating one whole tray by myself. Sometimes even more! :)

The trick is to cool it off a bit first by dipping it into the sauce. Then pop it into your mouth, burst the dumpling to enjoy the warm broth and succulent pork. Yum!

I was recently reading Serve The People: A Stir Fried Journey Through China by Jen Lin Liu, and it left me craving for yummy Xiao Long Bao. I've satisfied that craving... for now!
Beef with Chinese Crullers (P290)

My absolute favorite dish in Lugang Cafe is Beef with Crullers. I have no idea what crullers are. I assume they're some kind of tofu. They're crunchy and delicious, and I actually end up eating more of the crullers rather than the beef!

Of course, we enjoy this with a bowl of Golden Fried rice (their version of Yangchow, P220).

And I must say, I enjoy the Hot and Sour Soup too (P180 good for 4-6)! You can see the small slivers of liver, eggs, and other ingredients that make up the sumptuous soup. I feel that it needs to be a bit more sour and spicy though. Or maybe that's just the Knorr addict in me talking!

For dessert, I like to order the Green Tea with Red Bean Smoothie (P230).
I always have a great time at Lugang Cafe. And I always end up leaving super stuffed and satisfied :)
