Crescent Moon Cafe

I've always had a fondness for Antipolo. Growing up, we'd make the trip up to have long lunches and celebrate holidays with some of our closest family friends.

This time around I had a different agenda: Crescent Moon Cafe.

I was out for props! Cannot control my stylist hoarding tendencies when I hear about nice plates. Haha! And nice plates were sure to be found at Crescent Moon aka Lanelle Abueva's pottery studio. Lanelle is the artist responsible for wonderful stoneware in restaurants like Wildflour, Gracepark, and Yabu. You've probably seen them, but just don't know it!

My boss had clued me in on the wonderful stylist secret that you could get some pottery "rejects" at a few bucks a kilo. Yes, a kilo. So, of course, I just had to go.

With such a long drive, we had to have lunch there as well. This was the spread prepared for that day.

An interesting spring roll made of alagao leaves. Fill it with your choice of condiments like chopped mangoes, chilies, and toasted coconut.

Squash soup with squid.

Salmon. Stir fried veggies. Chicken curry.

Yummy suman and manga.

Lunch buffet is available for P500++. Simple and satisfying. The ambiance was a good break from the city, too. You dine in a simple fan-cooled dining area while looking out into the trees or fish pond. Quite relaxing.

The best part, of course, was the pottery shed out back. I brought a big box home. The 'rejects' were good enough for me. Wabisabi. Happy hunting, prop hoarders!

Crescent Moon Cafe and Pottery Studio is located at Sapang Buho Road, Baranggay Dalig, Antipolo. Call 0917 5232356 for reservations.
